(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 03:18 am (UTC)(link)However, I think that the Imperial Agent storyline in The Old Republic is better. If you haven't played it, I'd highly recommend subbing for a month just to run through it, if you can. Leveling is fast and easy, even solo, and the story is legitimately well done. The only negative is that you're stuck with the same companion for a long time and she's a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 09:36 am (UTC)(link)It's the reason I got into East Asian mythology, and having replayed it recently, there's a lot of stuff in it inspired my more obscure elements of Chinese history and folklore. Chai Ka, for example, seems based on these pottery figures from an actual Tang dynasty tomb (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b8/Tang_Dynasty_sancai_pottery_tomb_guardians.JPG), and the Imperial Palace looks like a giant floating ding (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ding_%28vessel%29). BioWare made a few gaffes (characters often talk about wine being made from grapes, as opposed to rice, which would be way more likely in an China-inspired setting), but they clearly went in-depth with their research.
