White (Scottish, Irish) and Eastern Cherokee heritage. No... not the "Cherokee princess". My great-grandfather basically raised my dad and he was nearly 100 when he passed. His parents were in living memory of the Cherokee Removal Act, some of our family were attorneys pushing it up to the Supreme Court, and my family didn't walk the Trail of Tears because they were sheltered by sympathetic whites. Had my great-grandfather not been able to destroy all records of my family's ethnicity, I could enroll. I don't speak over people who are much closer, but there's also a fair bit that's verifiable re: history.
