(Anonymous) 2015-12-17 03:54 am (UTC)(link)Spoilers for the book
I personally just kind of liked how vivid some of the images seemed and how stark that lifestyle would be compared to our own. For example, warming hands with snow instead of warm water to prevent frostbite and the buckwheat pancakes of survival.

(Except I probably won't read the book this year because here in Pennsylvania we're having a bullshit "late April in December" winter and it's pissing me off. It's supposed to be 70 on Christmas Eve WTF GTFO)

(Anonymous) 2015-12-17 03:42 am (UTC)(link)Oh, wow. Ugh. That ain't right :/. That would piss me off, too.
Thankfully, it's not supposed to be THAT warm here (I live in Iowa)-I think it'll be in the 30s here come Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. But the chances of us having snow by then look pretty slim, unfortunately.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-17 03:50 am (UTC)(link)In Ames, I think we're supposed to get rain on Christmas Day. I'll miss it because I'm visiting my folks in Philadelphia and it'll be 67F. WTF.
