What confuses me is that while there are millions of animal species, every single "otherkin" I've ever come across has been something "majestic" like a wolf. People may joke about otherkin by saying stuff like "Oh, are there some that identify as a slug [or other unflattering animal] or something?" but I honestly think that if there were, it would actually make the whole thing a little less unbelievable. Seems like quite a bizarre coincidence that of all the people online who identify as otherkin, they all just happen to be "cool" animals like wolves or...now that I think of it, wolves are really the only ones I've actually seen.

Wolves, cats (or specifically snow leopards), and foxes make up 99% of otherkin.

The other 1% is dragons.

I've been in the furry community in the olde years, after wolves the foxes are closely the runner ups if not more in some spaces. Then there are the big cats. Dogs are almost always gsd, dobbies, rotties. And then dragons

Yeah, I've been in the furry community for a long time too, and I noticed the lack of variety when it comes to species. I always thought of foxes as the "blank slate" when it comes to characters. Can't think of a species? Just go with the default!
