OP seems to be arguing that JL getting cast with a much-older love interest is only something that happens in David O. Russell films and therefore doesn't count or something. If you want to say Magneto and Beast cancel each other out, that's fine (I don't think it's fair to straight up claim that one for the similar-age side) but you'd still have to ignore Serena, which was directed by someone else. Besides, Russell (or his casting directors, rather) CHOOSES to cast her with older men and that choice does not exist in a vacuum - it is influenced by Hollywood practices and in turn influences the casting decisions of others.

I kinda figured that's what they were trying to say, but i have no idea what movie any of these people were in and who directed any of them. And even if it *is* just Russell doing that, you're exactly right - it's not like he's doing it in a vacuum or anything, and twenty-something girls with older men is pretty much Hollywood's (boring, stupid) standard.
