I wish I could say something different anon but I don't know if I would choose any differently. As someone who is facing a rent increase that will blow my budget to pieces, but not having enough money to move, I can see why this would appeal to you. No need to worry about food or rent, and helping people in the process? It's almost ideal.

Then again, none of us have the personal experience of Kilgrave. I think seeing his powers in person would be much more chilling than on any screen, and on screen he's disturbing enough. Jessica has a huge strength of character that I don't think I have. I'm much more similar to Hogarth (albeit much, much less successful) and I think that I'd be desperate enough to, like her, go along with Kilgrave a little and have it blow up horribly in my face.

The problem with Kilgrave is that he can't be trusted. A rich asshole is one thing and an unstable murderer is another.

If this was the first time Killgrave approached you, maybe. To Jessica though, he is fucking with her safe place.

This is a guy who has no respect for your well-being and is mood swingy enough to tell you to do something horrible like cut off your own ear at any moment.

The only way I would see anyone willing to be under his control again after getting a taste is for him to stop you feeling bad about the things he forced you to do.

Like if in Ella Enchanted, Ella asked someone to command her to be happy about being ordered around. You are 'happy' while you are under the spell, but you would hate yourself so much when snapped out of it. You would only go under again as a form of escapism from the consequences of the previous time.

Yeah, a few of the people at the support group said the same - it was really good just to want to do something then do it with no fear of consequences, and they were worried that it was something deep inside them that Kilgrave unlocked, not something he forced on them.

I don't remember that part.

The story that first springs to mind first when I think of the support is the guy told to leave his kid on the sidewalk.

I suspect living with a murderer and rapist, who has the power to compel, has no sense of boundaries and who would torture or worst you or the people around you if you happened to annoy him in some way or just because he could would probably negate the bonus of free room and board since it wouldn't exactly come free. The thing with a abusers is they don't stop just because you think you're doing what they want. They can always find reasons. I think easy in this scenario would be to get a job and pay your own rent.

Yikes. Maybe it's because I deal with abuse in real life so I don't get this,
