This ship broke me.
Ever since I understood that it now is canon (recently caught up) it’s been the only thing I’ve read fanfiction about, and yet I don’t even know if I actually like them together, so I guess I just keep reading to make sense of them and then getting more and more involved with them in the process?

I feel like I’ve read 10 different ways to describe the texture of Karkat’s hair and I can’t even decide if I want them to be together or if they’re a horrible match of two people that need to hear the sound of their own voices too much.

In one of the more recent upd8 flashes, after John has done some time/retcon shenanigans, they were shown snuggling on a couch with Dave's head in Karkat's lap watching some romcoms, mixing music together, and playing with the Mayor on the meteor. http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=009349 if you wanna catch up. Later on, Dave has a couple of talks about orientation, if I remember right. (Also, mostly unrelated, but Karkat clarifies what healthy blackrom is! I'm glad that "all blackrom is like Gamrezi" has been put to bed.)

Also, it's later revealed that this timeline's Terezi and Vriska are moirails.

I think I like this turn of events so far. Though regarding Terezi and Vriska specifically, not sure if happy because "SCOURGE SISTERS TOGETHER AGAIN!!! :D" or concerned because Vriska seems like she'd make a terrible moirail.

In any case, I'm gonna have to put these latest upd8s further up on my reading list.

You still have time to catch up! There's an update about future upd8s coming at the end of the month and that'll probably indicate when the ending arrives.

Their moirallegiance seems to be a mixed bag on both sides.

Just wait till you get to the most recent batch of upd8s though.

Matesprits. Hussie's gf stated nobody would even consider it possible that this is a moiraillegiance (which was the debated alternative among fans) if they were a het couple, so yeah.

It turns out that if Dave and Terezi never become a couple on the meteor, Dave and Karkat bond much quicker. They show two scenes in a flashback that are the most distinct: Dave puts his head on Karkat's thigh when they watch movies, Karkat smiles at him fondly. Dave draws a hopscotch in the shape of a dick and invites Karkat to jump on it and he's like ???.

It's never outright /said/, but Dave pretty much comes out as "not just into women" or "heteronormativity doesn't make sense to me anymore" to John. That was a pretty great scene.

They have some nice interactions as well, that show that they understand each other better now, but nothing really romantic. In fact they both "flirt" more with Jane and Vriska, which I find a bit annoying. Then again Hussie isn't good at writing actual couples, so this is as good as it gets.

I get you. Sure, it "sank" a lot of my ships with either of them, but I adore Dave's character development through it. He became much more understanding of an emotional guy like Karkat, he learned to accept himself and question the toxic macho ideals of his Bro.

But I'm just not enthused with Karkat's side of it. His character development was in fact more negative... and at first it seemed like they helped each other with their issues, which would have made the pairing appealing (at least to me). But that falls flat when we see that Karkat issues, that are pretty much "toxic macho/badass ideals", didn't change at all.

I like Dave's potential love for Karkat more than the pairing itself, if that makes sense?
