I don't watch Jessica Jones, so Ivm lacking in specificity, but typically when something like this is an issue it's entirely subjective. Something about the favored character seems more genuine or sincere. Maybe it's their actions. Maybe it's their mannerisms. Maybe it's the sound of their voice or the faces they make.

There's no one answer, no matter how much you want to generalize about the way society views men and women.
