Well, if you are talking about his wrestling pseudonym, it is a wrestling name and Sami Zayn sounds like a typical generic wrestling name to me. (There's also another wrestler who goes by Sami and I'm pretty sure he's not any combo of Muslim Syrian-Canadian.) I don't really pay attention to rl info for wrestlers, so i didn't know his background until I saw people mention it on Tumblr.

He wears his name in Arabic on one set of his wrestling gear, and some people just assume it's decorative squiggles, so people will find a way if he doesn't fit their mental image...

Not really? I mean given all the news coverage of ISIS and Al - Queda and the like, most people wouldn't necessarily think Zayn was a muslim name.

Same as most wouldn't figure Solomon Crowe was Jewish from his name.
