FWIW, that certainly wasn't my experience of fandom back then. People might make assumptions, but I actually found the fandom climate a lot more accepting.

No one really cared that much, because, like I said, we were all there to talk about something we all enjoyed together (or bitch at each other about who was a ~better fan~ or whatever, not about each other's identities).

What part of fandom were you in? I always presumed everyone was cishet females and didn't give a shit about skin colour, But I was in fanfic circles, with it's female-dominated reputation.

Nope, try again. Even then there was the assumption most fandom spaces were female and nationality was just far less talked about.

I'll give you cis, but not white and certainly not male.
