So much this.

Really old ship wars were full of mostly fake rumors to prove "MY SHIP IS CANON SO I'M RIGHT" and such.

Not-so-old ones were full of manifestos and analysis of the silliest things to prove "IT'S CANON" and those wanks could get OTT and all, but without being invested they were fun even when they ended in name calling.

Now it's all "Your ship is abusive and your hurting people! You should feel guilty and deserve to be called out!"
That's not fun AT ALL. I want the old silly ship wars back!
