I haven't watched OUAT since the first season, but at what point does Kilgrave ever do anything that would make him even remotely redeemable? It's not just that he's a rapist and a murderer, but he's all those things and more and doesn't care who he destroys as long as he gets what he wants right till the end even with Jessica. At his nicest with her he still uses coercion to get what he wants regardless of how it makes her feel and if he's not hurting her he's hurting other people to get what he wants from her. Also two things being similar doesn't make them the same. But at least with OUAT it seems, judging by the comments, the show wants to redeem Regina. Jessica Jones never pretends to redeem Kilgrave, which I for one am grateful for since I'm not a fan of shows having characters doing repeatedly awful things and then negating them because they had a shit childhood or they decide the actor/actress is too cute/popular whatever to get rid of.
