Its late and this is a random vent but
(Anonymous) 2015-12-19 09:07 am (UTC)(link)So at the time I went okay, I will play it safe and write them a canon compliant fic. I did that, finished it, they're going live soon. But now I'm having major second thoughts because ACTUALLY the canon is very sad so as a result anything canon compliant will be at least somewhat sad. And now I'm going, gosh, they probably wanted something happy?? What if I really fucked up and they are disappointed? It doesn't help that I haven't written in a while so I feel like my skills are rusty. I'm suddenly very anxious about it and its keeping me from sleeping.

They didn't communicate especially clearly, and you did the best with what little you were given. If they love the characters and that pairing from a specific canon, there is no reason to be anxious about them not loving a canon-compliant fic, no matter how sad the source material may be.
Pat yourself on the back for participating in a Fandom Secret Santa, completing your work on time, caring as much as you do about the recipient's thoughts, feelings, and desires, getting back into writing even though it's been a while for you, which was a bit of a challenge, I'm sure, and please get some sleep. You're a good person, OP. I hope you sleep well and that you wake to find that your recipient loved your work.
