I wasn't sure if he even had a mother in canon. It's been a looooooong time since I read either LotR or the Hobbit, but I don't recall either of them mentioning her. She must have existed though, because AFAIK elves cannot reproduce asexually (or through unrealistic m/m fanfic buttsex, for that matter).

I think she is one of a number of wives implied by the existence of a child, but never named.
