Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
So, SO many people were scared of that! And of course this being fandom so people believe that's exactly what this film is, but I certainly don't; it was a huge success for me.
and you saw the little claymation creature holograms from the first film
Yea! I had watched the movies again a week before so that was still fresh in my mind; they looked exactly the same. Loved it.
I'm super fond of both Finn and Rey (and Finn and Rey as a couple!) so I'll agree with all of that. I can't wait to see them together again. I also think they both had decent stories, what with Finn denouncing everything he'd ever known because "it was the right thing to do", and Rey leaving the only life she knew as well for similar reasons. It was great that at no point someone went, "Finn was a stormtropper so of course we can't trust him," or that no one questioned Rey's abilities or presence because she was a woman. I loved that about this film; it felt very progressive.
Her outfit is stunning in its simplicity! No it isn't 'sexy', but it's still visually appealing and is a great design. It'll be great for young girls to have Rey to 'dress up' as. (And hell, I'd like to dress up as her too. She's great!)
At this point I'm not sure if I believe Rey is a Solo kid, a Skywalker kid, or some other kid. I think any of it is possible, and there are things in the film that lead me to consider them all. For the Solo theory there's also that hug between Leia and Rey which doesn't make a lot of sense otherwise, but if she's Leia's kid I have to wonder why she didn't tell Rey. Too painful, considering all she'd recently been through? I think Kylo offering to train Rey could've been for lots of reasons, though. He seems to genuinely want to be the best villain he can be (and 'Sith' love their apprentices), and his master wanted Rey brought to him anyway, so there are certainly reasons beyond him possibly being her brother. (Though, again, that could be possible.)
Kylo totally looks like Revan, I thought that as well. I love Revan, but we didn't need another one; I'm glad Kylo is such a distinct villain. He was much more fascinating than I thought he'd be.
IA about Phasma and Poe, but I think it's guaranteed that they'll have bigger roles in the future. Poe is back for sure, and since he's the Han Solo type character (and Han was a big part of this movie) there wasn't much room for him here. There will be next time. And Phasma...I don't know what's going to happen there, but I think she's supposed to be a bigger threat next time. That's what I want, anyway; Christie is too great to waste on these type of scenes, and her armor is gorgeous and badass. I would love to see her achieve Boba Fett style popularity one day.

I suppose there's always a possibility of a cameo in future films...
