Yes, that's the great thing about Supernatural. I am a Destiel shipper, and god, I could read (good) fic 24/7 and still not run out, with all of the longfic and Big Bangs and rec lists. GOD BLESS YOU FANDOM WRITERS.

Hahaha I know, right? I am NEVER LEAVING THIS FANDOM

I wish I could get back into Supernatural (this fic is of decent quality but I'm just not feeling it anymore). I still feel that way about HP and Merlin BBC.

I was pure and innocent until I discovered the SPN kinkmeme.

It's true, there is a *lot* of fic out there. And a lot of it is really, really good. Yay! It's nice when you can find a fandom that caters to your interests *and* produces.

Hey, OP and others... any gen. or wincest fic recs? Like, the cream of the crop recs. I'd like to get into SPN fic again. Also, what community should you follow if you're interested in communities that share that type of fic? Is livejournal still a thing or do I have to get... *gulp*... a tumblr?

Not OP, but I adore BigPink (https://www.fanfiction.net/u/1008099/BigPink). All of her stuff is fabulous, but especially Red. Amazing, long, plotty fic with great characterization.

In the same category (long, plotty fic) is In Reverse by Sodakey (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2787883/1/In-Reverse). Excellent fic.

I'm not sure I'd call it cream of the crop, but I'm fond of Familiar Faces by sg2009 : https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5850739/1/ "AU John and Mary live only to hunt evil after losing their sons to the fire. When they enlist a runaway to play bait for a monster, they discover things aren't always what they seem."

My all-time favorite gen fic. 100 k words, gen, canon divergence.

In 2009, Castiel watches the Apocalypse end disastrously and makes a decision. In 1984, John Winchester suddenly finds himself with another little boy on his hands, one with dark, messy hair and sad blue eyes who won't leave John and his sons alone. And so Sam and Dean get a weirdo big brother. Because their lives aren't complicated enough.

As for gen communities: The SPN Summergen exchange has been running since 2007. All the masterlists are here

The amount and variety of fanfic is what makes me think I'll never be able to go back to being fannish about stories with smaller fandoms. I've been in the Sherlock fandom for about three years now, and I actually basically hate what's being done with canon at this point, but I stay for the Johnlock fanfic.

I often wish I could get into the SPN fandom, specifically for the fic. Especially because I know if I was in the fandom, I'd be a Destiel shipper for sure, which would mean I'd be set with fic to read for like five years, minimum.

Yeah, isn't it awesome?

Recently after I started watching I searched for a specific plot scenario on Google (!) and got a dozen or so recs for fics about that scenario. That's when I realized I was in a huge fic-fandom!

What I especially like about SPN fandom is that there are lots of fics about minor characters; even those who were in one or two episodes! (Like the girl in my icon; I had read 200k words of fic about her before she'd even had her second episode.)

Yes, the big ships dominate like in any fandom; but there's plenty of rarepair and gen fics as well to go around.
