I don't have evidence, it's an opinion. If scientific evidence doesn't find any connection between mental illness and crime, we need to redefine mental illness.

So I suppose you're right? It does make me uncomfortable that someone who's completely mentally healthy could be so horrible. And for the record I have a small handful of mental illnesses myself. Maybe I'd just like to have an excuse if I ever happen to do any of the horrible things I (wish I didn't) think about.

It is a really scary thought, because it would mean that a lot of people who do terrible things aren't, for lack of a better term, malfunctioning. It would mean that wanting to do terrible things is part of the basic human condition.

But I think that, if that's reality, we're better served by facing it, you know?
