(Anonymous) 2015-12-20 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)It may not be relate-able for people who don't think they've done anything meaningful, but if the message does it's job, it's communicating that even if you don't think your existence is meaningful your friends and family and the people who's lives you've affected do.
You may not think that helping that stranger with their groceries meant that much, but to them it made what was otherwise a miserable day. Or just saved them a fair bit of time to get to their next destination easier.

George Bailey was suicidal because he felt that he was not helping anyone in life (and that he was stuck in a town where no one appreciated him).
