Online Political News Sources

Where do you stay up to date with political news on the internet? I go to Talking Points Memo and Al Jazeera but I'd like to go to other places too. I've tried Gawker but was put off by how clickbaity and biased it is.

Where do you read your political news fandomsecrets?

BBC World News and NPR.

BBC News is pretty good. I should give NPR a read too

I've found BBC news to have gone very right wing (in Euro terms) lately and exceptionally uncritical of the UK govt in a way they haven't been for decades. I would not recommend them.

Thanks! I didn't know that. That's really unfortunate

Talking Points Memo is equally biased and clickbaity as Gawker. It's just sort of dopier.

Every political news site is biased and clickbaity I suppose. The thing with Gawker is that it's supposed to be a "shit-stirrer" while TPM is more a run of the mill leftwing blog. After the last Democratic debate Gawker ran articles like "Hillary Clinton said this! WTF!" while TPM had debate thoughts and fact checking for all of the candidates. But of course, your mileage may vary

TBH I do think Gawker is mostly pretty bad for political coverage, and I'm mostly defending them because I like Deadspin a lot and Jezebel a bit.

But I really do think that TPM is not great. Not actually because of bias or anything now that I think about it - I just really don't respect Josh Marshall as an analyst.

That sounds really fair. I don't mind him, but I can see why others wouldn't.

Pretty much just Politifact at this point. They're pretty unpopular among liberals, but they go off even harder on a lot of conservative politicians. It's all about their idiosyncratic idea of "truth," and they always give enough context to evaluate for yourself.

Thanks, I'll definitely check it out! I have to admit that I'm wary about Conservative leaning blogs, but I appreciate different viewpoints

I'm old school. I hear it on the evening news on TV.

Not having to deal with the clickbaity nature of internet news sources is a bonus there haha

Really? Going to the site that put up Hulk Hogan's racist sex tape for political news? Really?
