What comic styles/artists do you like? I've always had an issue with those two's in house so I haven't explored US mich.

Ben Templesmith does really good horror comics, but his style is something of an acquired taste as it's sketchy and kind of weird -- his most recent work is Gotham By Midnight if you want an example.

Cliff Chiang has a very clean kind of style that reminds me of Mike Mignola with better anatomy -- and I like Mike Mignola. DC and especially Marvel seem to be utilizing styles similar to Chiang and Mignola a lot lately -- lots of flat, but strong colors, lots of black, stylistic anatomy (as opposed to house style's attempt at realism) that's still immediately recognizable.

Karl Kerschl's run on Gotham Academy really drives home the fun webcomic-style vibe (think Gunnerkrigg) that Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher have created.

Babs Tarr's run on Batgirl is a perfect example of how to mix house-style CG with a lineart style closer to Cliff Chiang's.

Greg Capullo's art, for example on his Batman run with Scott Snyder, is essentially the DCAU with far more detail. It's really, really lovely.

John Romita Jr. is essentially a better version of Frank Miller. The Daredevil mini "The Man Without Fear" from about 20-25 years ago so closely matches Frank Miller's style that I almost thought it WAS Miller, sans some of his stylistic "quirks" (read: Miller can't draw women worth a damn) That's probably intentional because Frank Miller wrote it, but as someone who thinks Miller is a creepy, overrated, neo-fascist misogynist hack, his Daredevil stuff is pure gold. (Probably 'cuz he was really young when he did his first run on Daredevil in the early 80s and hadn't morphed into whatever the fuck he is today.) It's a lot like what people think his Batman stuff is but isn't.

The above paragraph was a mess, sorry!
