Just kissing? Maybe not so much.

"moan" and "groan" seem like open-mouthed noises, and too loud most of the time, but otoh there are ... "small needy noises" that can be made deep in the throat with out breaking the kiss. ~ YMMV of course; it depends on how aroused/impatient one is.

Sometimes? I think it sort of depends on context. Like a kiss on the street...no moaning for sure. A kiss as part of foreplay/during sex? Moaning might be involved. But it's highly personal. I can pretty much be totally silent because when I was a teen my room was next to my parents' and I learned the art of quiet masturbation.

But, moaning can be hot.

Little hums or throaty noises are much more likely of it's just closed mouth kissing.

A moan might slip out if the kissing involves opening your mouth, but that probably depends on how into it you are.

I don't think I've ever moaned while kissing. Frankly, I usually spend that time hoping the other person doesn't stick their tongue down my throat. Ugh.

Why do you kiss people then, if you don't like it?

There's a big difference between kissing and ramming your tongue down someone's throat. If you don't know that, I kinda feel sorry for your kissing partners...

I have only kissed once and the experience was not great, so that's a "no" for me so far.

I imagine it depends on the person, some people might make noises from being kissed while others wouldn't.

As for myself I don't, but then I don't really enjoy kissing so much.

Personally, I don't "moan" or "groan" much without other touching, but I include it in fanfic because I find kissing a bit hard to describe and it feels the void.

You aren't doing something wrong, some people just aren't very vocal during this kind of thing.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've involuntarily moaned or babbled or whimpered at my partner during any kind of sexual activity, and most of those times leaned more towards whispering than OTT porno moans. Pretty much the most that ever happens is my breathing goes a bit funny no matter how mind-blowing things get. And I'd feel really weird faking it so my partners had better just get used to the fact that I'm quiet in bed.

It depends on how intense the kiss is. If it involves tongue, then yeah, there might be some moaning. But not like, full out moans like you'd have during sex.

I had a boyfriend who moaned like that when we were kissing. I personally thought it was hot but it was a little strange and sometimes people thought we were fucking if the door was closed. He was super noisy but super responsive, so it worked.

Some people do, some don't. I'm all about the whimpering myself, but both I and my partners have been known to moan. Also sometimes gasp, sigh and laugh while kissing.

Everyone's different, and it depends on the situation as well.

I generally presume that the kind of completely involuntary moaning you're talking about is more about the fantasy of kissing than the reality. It's just really hot to imagine one's ship being that desperate and aroused from only a bit of kissing. I'm a big fan of the moaning trope for that reason.

If it's any comfort, I personally almost never make involuntary sounds in response to sexual pleasure. Whatever impulse some people have to make noise is just not there for me. If anything I'm the other way; my voice tends to kind of freeze and/or I accidentally start holding my breath when I'm getting close.

Really depends on the person.

I do it, but it's kind of a weird vocal-chords-vibrating-sound-comes-out-through-nose thing. So I just call it a moan and call it a day.

(But I've also orgasmed from close-mouthed kissing before, so I know I'm way out of the norm.)
