I just picked up Disgaea 4, and surprisingly, I don't seem to like the combat. I read LPs of the first three and loved the stories; I just hate dicking around with Geo Panels and throwing characters across the map to try to overcome obnoxiously unbalanced combat environments. I feel like I'm fighting the geography as much as the enemies.

Also, I'm used to the idea that you do combo attacks by surrounding the enemy. It feels incredibly weird to do combo attacks by putting one ally next to the enemy, then surrounding that ally. And if you're going to have me grind random dungeons in order to level up my gear, can you at least have some variety in the kinds of enemies I face? (I've killed more overgrown moths than a spider living on a porch light.)
