they're not inherently intertwined but practically, they're not separate. behavior is part of your identity. sure you can be a feminine guy or a masculine woman and be totally straight but in reality the probability that someone who aligns along the complementary role behavior-wise will also align along the respective role's traditional way of desiring. Mostly because behavior is acquired and influenced by how we perceive roles and desire. If I grow up believing it's normal for all guys to be into girls and then realize I'm into girls I will A identify more with guys and thus act more like them and B try to actively mimick their behavior to have better chances with the desired sex, who I believe are into boys.
Again, this does not happen always or to everyone, and it will change as society changes but statistically speaking, it's likely. Also it's my own personal experience.
