I liked his performance in Breaking Bad, he was one of the highlights of the last season, and was excited that he was up for Star Wars. I was bummed when he wasn't cast.

They should have said "because I like the actor and have for a long time" instead of leaving it blank for everyone to assume "because he's white and Boyega is black" (or some kind of coded statement to the same effect).

Because, you know, it is best to avoid confusion, and the confusion in this case was inevitable and entirely predictable, because there are a lot of people who do say shit like that.

I said that racism was another reason that someone might have the opinion.

Which is why everyone immediately responding asked OP to explain, and then they did explain, which was good.

The secret was perfectly clear. What was utterly predictable was someone being an asshole about it, pretending to assume OP was talking about race instead of a specific fucking actor. And I say that as someone who prefers Boyega.

Nobody pretended to assume anything of the sort. They politely asked OP to clarify, because it was unclear, and then people flipped their shit and insisted there was no possible ambiguity in the secret.
