A face soap is likely to be milder (as well as possibly perfumed) and maybe contains a moisturizer. You could still use it on your butt, but it's probably superfluous to one's needs.

ok thanks.

what does hand soap have that makes that different? would it be bad to use hand soap on your face?

"Hand soap" is usually just liquid soap in a pump, which makes it easy to use to wash your hands. I don't see any reason you can't use it on your face, although it could be drying or just feel weird.

If your skin can stand it, I guess you could. But hand soap is likely to be a little harsher and it might not be for everyone, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Hand soap is very drying. I wouldn't use it on your face. Facial soaps tend to be gentler and with moisturizers.
