Star Wars has a lot of great music, but which pieces from the soundtracks are your top favorites? And why?

The Hologram / Binary Sunset. It's very grand and sad to me

There's also some bits of music that usually play in the Republic's headquarters on Coruscant in the prequels, but I can't recall the exact point / melody.

Oddly enough, my ear keeps hearing Obama, which is strange because this was recorded well before Obama even entered the public conciousness.

Any and all renditions of the Force theme, but especially the triumphant one at the awards ceremony at the end of the first movie. And as heretical as it is to say this, I love the new song at the end of the special edition version of Return of the Jedi.

I love that song at the end of Return of the Jedi. I actually don't mind the Special Editions, but that was easily the best addition.

Meco! OMG. I have their Greatest HIts album and their Star Wars album. I love them.

How on earth am I supposed to pick? I love them all. I have all versions of all the soundtracks and an entire playlist on my Ipod devoted to just Star Wars music. Some of the best:

Victory Celebration (Return of the Jedi special edition): one of the reasons I don't mind the SEs. I love this track. I think it needs more love.

Basically all of mine have been mentioned: The Imperial March (a classic, and one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard; I don't think you could find a more badass theme song then that one), Duel of the Fates (such an amazing score; I adore that lightsaber battle probably more than any other. The music sets the tone and makes the action all the more epic), Across the Stars (Sweeping, gorgeous romance theme) and the trailer music from The Force Awakens. I don't know if that particular one has a name but I've listened to it about a thousand times since the trailer dropped. It gets me pumped and somehow perfectly sums up the excitement and intensity of SW for me.

Oh, and the Cantina song is fun.

I'm gonna go with Dual of the Fates as well because I am very much a casual Star Wars fan and aside from The Imperial March it's the only one I can remember by name.

I also like the piece of music that starts when the Gungan vs Droid army fight happens.

The Cantina, because of the unique combination of pan drums and clarinets.

The Imperial March and Duel of the Fates because they're both pretty epic.
