(Anonymous) 2015-12-24 05:18 am (UTC)(link)I do think a good novel has the potential to give a person insights into the life of someone who is very different than they are, and therefore teach empathy, but fanfic can do that too.
Honestly, I've read some fic in the last month that was as good as many published novels I've read. I don't think there is anything so far that tops the very best novels, but that's okay.
