37.) That's not why I hate him. I was looking forward to Hobo before the game came out; I wanted to see what they were going to do with him. I hate him because the execution of it was so poorly done and fucked up, he's a legitimately detestable person who bears no resemblance in character to the Nick I knew and loved from the first three, and his attitude towards the courts in 4-3 and 4-4 is legitimately disturbing.

IMO, he should get hit by a bus in 5-1. Not as part of the murder trial; just because.

20.) A-fucking-men.

13.) Well done. *applause*

You seriously take all these Phoenix Wrights secrets way too personally. It happens in nearly every post.

-someone who doesn't know you from anywhere by fandomsecrets

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I take nothing personally~

Well, I genuinely hate Hobo with a burning passion >_> but other than that, this was simply in response to that.

That and I really, really didn't want to do my reading. What better way to procrastinate?

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
If you genuinely hate a fictional character with a burning passion... that's just really weird.

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well.

It's tricky.

I LOVED the first three games in the series, Phoenix is one of my favorite protagonists in them.

Not only does Phoenix in the fourth game possess few traits of his former self and no hints of the deep bonds they spent three games developing (making him feel like a completely different character)... he's a legitimately despicable person in what he does. And his views on the law/legal system he espouses in the third and fourth cases are actually sort of scary (given the context of the world he's in). What's worse, the game seems to have absolutely no problem with it, and all the characters agree with him. He's presented as a hero.

Perhaps I hate him a bit more than he deserves because for me, he kind of represents the failures of the game (including this moral/philosophical mess) as a whole. And in my mind, continuing down this path if they make a fifth game means that one of my favorite series is, well, kind of dead. Which sucks.

Gah. I'm too hung over to argue properly.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
What's worse, the game seems to have absolutely no problem with it, and all the characters agree with him. He's presented as a hero.

...did you even play the game?

Anyway, your dedication to constantly tl;dring about the same thing every single time this comes up is very frightening. As I said, I only know you from fandomsecrets, but it comes off as downright obsessive, as does the fact that you seem to hate it when people disagree with your opinion, and constantly comment to people as such. I remember one time where I didn't comment to a secret I wanted to, because I had seen you going through all the pages of comments, and basically splooging over every single comment pertaining to that secret, and I just didn't want to deal with that batshittery.

But of course you don't really care about al this, right, which is why I assume that you will be commenting back to me with a multi-paragraph explanation.

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
in English? Just started 4-4. And so far, I'm completely right. (As in, Apollo was agreeing with him at the end of 4-3)

People are free to disagree with me wherever they choose; that's their choice and they're welcome to it. Just as I'm welcome to disagree with them.

If you're talking about the secret I think you're talking about, it was actually addressed at me, so I felt kind of entitled to explain myself. >_>

And I'll admit that I'm not entirely happy with people liking it, because support for it = more of it = not a good thing to happen to what was once my favorite series. But hey, in the end, it is just a game, and games and fandom come and go, so whatever works.

I like to argue. About lots of things. It's fun. Don't confuse it with actually getting my knickers in a twist <3

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
If you're talking about the secret I think you're talking about, it was actually addressed at me, so I felt kind of entitled to explain myself. >_>

Not the one I was thinking of actually. You tend to do it a lot.

Seriously, it is creepy. Even if you don't mean to come off that way, you definitely do. I have no idea what you're like off fs or in your other fandoms or on other sites or whatever, but here? You come off as a slightly deranged fanboy to caught up in himself to realize that he's being very awkward and painful to watch. I have actually cringed in embarrassment more than once on your behalf. Sort of like that socially inept kid that everyone has in at least one class that doesn't know how irritating he is, and you can't decide whether to laugh at him or feel bad for him.

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
PW is my first fandom in years, and I really... aren't involved in it that much. Any more, that is. Call it burnout or what, but for the most part, my participation in LJ fandom is... F!S >_>

If I come off like that, well, that's other peoples' interpretations; and while I'd rather be liked than disliked--who wouldn't?--I... well, it's fandom. And I like to argue. And if people have this vision of me FROTHING WITH RAGE or something, it's, uh, not correct.

I'm sort of not entirely sure how to respond to that, to be honest. *shrug* Uh... thanks? I guess? >_>

Hm. It's interesting. I was following GS4 when it released, and the almost categorical rejection / disapproval by the Japanese fandom. I guess my reaction to the American fans embracing is confusion more than anything, to think about it.

Bleh. I should finish writing this critique. But, like I said, I like arguing >_>

why do you do that. every comment.

Good question.

no, seriously, good question--I don't know. It's just a habit I picked up, I guess. I've been meaning to try and stop using that, but... bad habit *shrug*

iawtc

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
you do that

<3

I really don't take much on the internet seriously. >_> Oh sure, I'll argue about it and write tl;dr rants because that's what I like to do, but... when it comes to most things, it's not like I'm RAGING and TEARING OUT MY HAIR or anything. <_< I like to think I disassociate fairly well.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
that's why you "lose respect" for people who do particular things in your fandoms, right

because you don't take it seriously

lollllll

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Uh.

sure.

I'll respect people less for being bad writers, or misunderstanding a text, whether it's in fandom or business or whatever. This has nothing to do with taking fandom seriously. >_>

Whatever you say <3

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
condescending heart emoticons are so in right now, gosh

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sure they are.

Though I'm not really -trying- to be condescending. I just.. sort of don't agree XD; And no offense, but I think I'd know my frame of mind better than anybody else re: taking fandom seriously.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll respect people less for being bad writers"

Oh hell yes, that gives me enough grounds to respect you less.

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Not gonna stop you.

Addendum:

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
It should have been clear that I was talking about them as a writer, not them as a person. How I respect them as a writer/whatever has nothing to do with how I respect them as a person. That's just silly.

So it should have been clear, but... well, Internet.

Re: Addendum:

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
"So it should have been clear, but... well, Internet."

you seem to have quite a bit of trouble communicating your ideas clearly, yeah. it shows in your writing.

Re: Addendum:

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
No, I'm well aware of that. :D It's worse with a three-alarm hangover, but hey, I can acknowledge that.

Sure, feel free to not like my writing. Improving is good, so I'd appreciate feedback and crit, but hey, to each his or her own. And that's what editors are for. Well, sort of.

I'm well aware I'm not the best writer, or even a particularly good writer. I do try to improve, though, so hey. There ya go.

[identity profile] starless-watch.livejournal.com 2008-02-26 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
37 - IAWTC. I don't know what the fuck is up with the rest of the thread.
