Slightly OT: fans are pretty divided on the FF4 sequel, but it wasn't completely reviled. I'd be curious to see what could be done with an FF6 sequel. I'm skeptical that magic is really 100% gone from that world, and the return of lost powers to a technological society would be a different tack from FF's usual fare.

I feel you. I wish they'd do a remake in the vein of the DS one for FF4, like chibi sprites, 3D map, adding a few extra things. I liked that remake. The re-releases that have come were all so half-assed. I would give Square all the money for that remake...

FF4 on both DS and PSP do look nice. Just googled them.

What do you mean by "properly"? FFVI is the most gorgeous and graphically consistent of the SNES era. IV and V needed visual updates much more than VI.

I honestly think 6 is kind of ugly (And I love pixel art!). Either way, its remakes are even /uglier/. Some people don't dig pixels, either. As someone into older games, it's also nice having them be remade, especially well, because it brings new people to the fandom. This is especially true of remakes that "improve" graphics, because, well, many people are weirdly skeptical of "outdated" graphics.

I want both graphics similar to the original (like what the heck was Celes doing before they got on the ship? I can't figure out what her gestures are supposed to mean) but also a full voice cast. I've been casting this shit since the late '90s.

The mobile remakes do look ugly. Especially the fonts.

Another and even worse issue is that Square Enix regularly uses DRM which refuses to work outright on many phones, and even when it does work, doesn't let you play your single player RPG, which you have downloaded to your phone, without regular internet connection and DRM checks. It just boots you out of the game. Then there's the saving issue with many of their mobile ports - let your screen go into sleep for one moment and you've lost everything.

Let's say I'm not rushing to buy their FF mobile ports just yet. However, I am making my way through the FF back catalogue but playing on the original retro consoles, and having a blast about it.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying I don't want the half added ports to exist at all. Just that I won't be going near them until the issues are sorted.

Those sprites make me cringe every time I see them and yet I still want to buy it on Steam because it's my jam.
