I loved TFA, and I think that it should get some sort of award for the effects, but I do think that The Martian is more deserving of awards.

The Martian deserves a nomination for best adaptation screenplay, but that is as far as I would go. However TFA probably only rates for best music and best sfx categories. I wouldn't say the actors nor the direction warrant anything further for it either.

I don't know, I thought the acting was pretty good, though I'll admit; I haven't seen the other movies that were nominated. (...I don't know what other movies are being nominated).
