This opinion seems a little ridiculous to me. These are two completely different movies.

The Martian is a drama set in the near future about a man surviving on Mars and the efforts of the people on earth to save him.

The Force Awakens was an action adventure in a fictional galaxy (long ago and far, far away) about rebels fighting against the dregs of a tyrannical empire as part of the ongoing conflict between good and evil.

Literally the only thing these two movies have in common is space travel to different planets, and even that is vastly different. Why would you be particularly worried about these two movies competing? Outside of "technical" things like SFX and music, won't they be in completely different categories?
