(Anonymous) 2015-12-25 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)I barely pay attention to award shows either. Especially since I learned the Brady Bunch never won anything in it's long run. I'm not a fan of the show at all, but it was and still is a huge cultural influence and the people handing out awards had nothing to praise it for? Ever? The snickers commercial with the Brady Bunch got nominated, but not the actual show: http://www.emmys.com/shows/brady-bunch
Award shows seem to be run by hipsters - if it's popular, it cannot be awarded.

Okay, this is crazy to me. I was never a fan either, but that show is considered a classic and I'm amazed it never won anything. That's pretty shocking to me.

Well, I wouldn't say always, sometimes popular things do get nominated (again, LOTR!), but they often don't win. Not that they even always deserve to win (I miss a lot of films, so I don't feel qualified to pit them against each other), but they could!

(Anonymous) 2015-12-26 09:03 am (UTC)(link)Unless it's animated, in which case it's Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks all the way (with like two exceptions), because the Academy can't be assed to watch any animated films their kids don't drag them to
