Re: TFA: Ships?

What's hilarious is that the only way for that to happen was to make it close to impossible to have a white guy/white guy juggernaut pairing.
Luke/Han : zero interaction
Luke/Kylo : same
Luke/Hux : same
Han/Kylo : incest shipping
Kylo/Hux : only one with a chance to rise, but it's villain/villain shipping and Kylo Ren doesn't seem very popular (he's a brat and let's be frank, Adam Driver is not very pretty and fangirls love their pretty guys. You're gonna say but Benedict Cumberbatch but he looks better than Adam Driver.)

Yeah that's the thing that makes me sad about it. Like the only way you can get people to ship nonwhite pairings is to make it impossible for them to ship white ones.

Really? I feel like Kylo's a pretty popular character. A lot of people seem to find his whiny brat schtick because LOL SKYWALKER WHINING GENE (I mean the Emo Kylo Ren Twitter has like 50k followers and counting) plus he's got TONS of fangirls on Tumblr. It just seems like people prefer to ship him with Rey than Hux.

I actually find Adam Driver very pretty, even though he's younger than my usual type. At least as Kylo. Its the hair.

I thought the opposite! Kylo seems to be pretty popular from what I've seen, and not just with fangirls; I've seen some love for him on reddit, too. (I think the consensus among those people is that, "Yes, Kylo is immature and angsty, but the way he's written and acted is believable and more like what Anakin Skywalker should've been in the prequels.")

Of course there's people unhappy with his character, you can't have a fanbase this gigantic and make everyone happy (and frankly, some SW fans are impossible to please), but I expected worse.

And I've seen a massive variety of comments on Adam's appearance, everything from "He's too pretty to be a convincing villain and never should've taken off the mask," to "This dude is hideous, put the mask back on." Opinions, man. (I think he's super hot as Kylo Ren, and though he's definitely a unique looking guy, I find him pretty damn handsome with short hair.)

Kylo is really popular though and lets face it Kylo/Hux being a villain ship shouldn't stop 'shallow fangirls' if we're using the 'fandom is racist' theory since they're both white. Frankly it just shows me that if you give a poc character proper screen time outside of being a 'sidekick' people will ship them. It's almost like Finn is a great character in his own right and isn't there to just be a prop for Rey.

But hey I'm waiting for this fandom to devolve into the same nastiness that plagues modern fandoms when the butthurt whiny pissbabies who think that they deserve more fanwork will accuse the biggest ship with whatever -ism to make their argument seem like some kind of fight for social justice.
