I really hate the word 'gift' as a verb

You give someone a gift. You don't 'gift' them a gift.

Same amount of letters. Where is the aversion to the word give coming from?

You aren't 'hard to gift for.' You're hard to buy gifts for. The extra letters in this one won't kill you.

I think it's easier to say "gift for" than "buy, create, put together, or otherwise find a gift for" because not all gifts are bought.

"give a gift" focuses on the giving part at the end rather than the whole searching process too. Idk it's laziness but "hard to gift for" is easier than "hard to figure out what to give and find a gift for"

I'm okay with gift as a verb but what bugs me is adjectives as nouns. I was at Kmart and saw a sign that something like "It's a box full of happy." It just sounds babyish to me. Or "Feel the awesome". What is this, 2007 on deviantart?

... and yet you can present someone with a present!

English is so silly.
