True story. I have never had Turkish Delight, although I have had Aplets and Cotlets, which a poster upthread says are similar. I come from saltwater taffy country. I once tried to explain taffy to an English person as, "sort of like...Turkish Delight," based on superficial appearance.

Someone who knew better said, "No, taffy is more like caramel." Which it is.

Nah, not really. Turkish delight is more like a gummy candy, flavored with fruit or rosewater. It's not hard or chewy like taffy.
