Should I see Star Wars?

(Anonymous) 2015-12-27 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
As a casual fan who has no idea of the post-original-trilogy universe, never saw the trailer, is so far not impressed with the little round droid thing being the new minions, AND has already been spoiled for the movie... should I go see it?

Expected nothing, got spoiled to hell and back, and was pleasantly surprised.

Cool, good to know. :) Thanks!

Not any time soon unless you like fighting large crowds of people to watch a generic action movie.

You have a point there. I'll probably go on a weekday, if that helps.

I saw it on a Monday, and it was fun and the theater was full but not packed.

I'm not even a fan, but I saw this as a standalone and it was nice. I like Finn and Rey and the robot and there were nice cgi scenes

I thought it was a lot of fun and very charming, tbh.

Yeah, somebody posted a spoilery gif without warning for it and completely spoiled me for one huge plot point in the film. I'm pissed and wondering if I should even see it.

Was it something to do with Han? I'd say still go see it. Kylo Ren is hilarious, Rey and Finn are really great characters, and Poe is also really fun to watch.

Something to do with Han, yep.

Trust me, BB-8 is nothing like the horrid minions. (Spoilers)

He's pretty much a sentient dog, and has some really cute moments (Like giving Finn a thumbs up) He's not sassy or sarcastic like R2, and he's not annoying like C3PO.

It's pretty good! A little overhyped definitely but still worth seeing. And the droid (BB8) is nowhere near as annoying as the minions are.

You definitely do not need any knowledge of the post-trilogy/expanded universe because they disregard all of that in the movie. I never read any of the books and had no problem because it was a new canon building off of the other movies.

I thought it was a great deal of fun and really liked the new characters. Go see it in non-IMAX, non-3D if a cheaper ticket will help convince you - it doesn't really need all that.
