I don't know. I think it depends. If the characters are in the middle of doing something or there are other things they should be doing, then it bugs me. But if it is a reasonable point in the story for them to be having sex, what's wrong with writing it out? PWPs aren't the only fics with explicit scenes, and authors shouldn't have to keep sex out of other fics. People really do have sex while plotty things are going on in their lives, so why shouldn't that happen in fics too?

That's a good point, but I guess I was thinking back to when a friend of mine used to write KPop fanfics and she had a habit of person A meeting person B and a couple chapters later they're having sex. No real reason. They spoke to each other for a quick few moments, and then they're banging. And afterwards the sexual excounter doesn't have much to do with the rest of the plot.

Oh, I agree that's annoying. You need a reason for anything you add to your fic, including sex. If it doesn't fit it shouldn't be there. I actually ended up not writing a sex scene that I originally planned for a recent fic because it didn't fit.

I'm just saying that if it does fit then there is nothing wrong with including it. Some of my favortie fics are long, plotty ones with well-written sex scenes in just the right parts of the narative.

I agree as well. Many fics I've read I love for having good sex scenes in them. I just don't like it in fics where it's obvious the author was impatient with building up to the sex.
