I've only ever seen the dub but the "all life is equal" moral was most certainly in there, Mewtwo outright says it

Yes, he says it at the end, but during the main part of the movie, and the big fight scene before Ash's sacrifice, the focus is all on how terrible it is that the pokemon are fighting. Which does make sense in context, but isn't exactly a moral that fits that particular story or villain very well.
