I'm depressed, unemployed, in debt, and living at home. It's unlikely to change for the better any time soon. I don't have any friends, outside of those on Facebook who "like" a thing every now and then but otherwise won't give me the time of day when I ask if anyone wants to do something sometime. I went to my very first concert this year, by myself because no one would go with me, and it was too noisy/crowded to hear/see the actual band on the other side of a small venue. I got beer spilled on me while being pressed up close to a couple making out for several minutes. That was the high point of my year.

Being brave enough to get out there even alone is a lot more than a lot of people do.

I'm sorry, anon. That sounds really rough :( but it's awesome that you even went to the concert by yourself, I couldn't do that! Hopefully this year will have some great surprises for you that you can't even imagine yet.

Aww anon. I hope by the end of the year one of those things change. It's unrealistic to expect everything to change at once, but hopefully at least one of those will be gone.

FWIW doing things by yourself doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. For me at least, I like going to museums or movies by myself because then I can just concentrate on what I'm seeing and doing as opposed to whether the person/people with me are having a good time. So deliberately doing things by yourself isn't always a bad thing. It can be a way to relax and get out of your own head.

And you made an effort to get out there. Which is always a good thing.
