I agree with you. My only hope is that the system of current fandom will collapse. I mean, I see more and more people getting fed up with it and withdrawing from places like tumblr. And not only older fans but younger ones too.

Tumblerisation has made fandom toxic and people feel that this does no good to their wellbeing.

NAYRT

I was thinking the other day... In my fandom, at least, Tumblr is becoming less and less useful with every new upgrade. I don't go there often anymore, but the last time I checked there were all sorts of unrelated things in the tags, and people were expressing discomfort about posting their fic because of how things get sorted and all...

And I wonder where fandom will go next.

I definitely foresee fandom taking on a new format. I also think the lack of anonymity on the internet plays a part. It was a lot easier to be comfortable when you knew five other people who were capable of more than email and AIM.

I noticed this a lot too. Many people on tumblr complain about tumblrs toxic atmosphere and want to leave, but feel stuck because it's the central hub of their fandom.

I also hope there will be a big change in the fandom experience. Tumblr is just exhausting because of people using tags as their soapboxes, tagging hate, and anon harassment. Just a really terrible environment overall.

The tags are a blessing and a curse. They are good because it allows you to see new stuff in relevant tags. Bad because people try to bring their drama into the tags, sometimes unintentionally.
