As my room mate who is literally a millionaire sits there watching Samurai Champloo.

This should be the start of a Supernatural episode:

Two successful young adults watches Samurai Champloo. One checks the pad and reads a loud a comment about anime turning people into gay losers. Both laugh.

Then gradually more ominous sound effects turn into the Supernatural opening theme and we see the Impala, where Sam points to his pad and turns to Dean: "This is not the only town where this has happened you know. It seems there are similar cases all over, even abroad." Dean replies: "Well yeah, anime comes from Japan, duh." Sam: "Dean! You know of anime?" Dean just stares ahead and doesn't reply, but turns a nice shade of scarlet...

Didn't supernatural have a scene in one of the earlier episodes where Dean says something about anime, Sam is surprised he knows about it and Dean just replies something about anime porn; weird but good?
