(Anonymous) 2015-12-27 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)I adore PoC Hermione headcanons, but this is the exact same bullshit as "Dumbledore is totes gay I promise!!!" and you know it. Hermione was written as white. Don't give Rowling points she doesn't deserve; she did not write a black character. She even said that Emma Watson was exactly how she'd always envisioned Hermione.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-27 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)I'm giving her all the points for not being a snippy asshole when one of her characters was cast as a black woman, and for shutting down "but caaaaanooooon" objections to that casting. Which is how I read her tweet-- supportive of the artistic choices made by the people who cast the play.
As for Dumbledore, I was a teacher for years and I can promise you that my sexual orientation never ever figured into my relationships with my students. So she could certainly have always envisioned Dumbledore as gay-- or most of the other teachers as well-- and still not have it relevant to the lives of the students.
