The books are and Hermione is white in those. Sorry!

As noted, I do think JKR imagined her as white, but as it isn't specifically noted in the books, it doesn't go against canon to portray her as not white.

Honestly if you're so vehement about arguing that Hermione needs to be white, I do think that's pretty racist.
