I probably could have accepted it if it were magical in origin. But it seems to be thoroughly natural in origin, and that just makes me want to get into arguments about whether or not it's justified by a parabolic orbit and stuff about the rate of revolutions per year. And I ain't got time for that shit.

Yeah, I was trying to work out whether they could be in a parabolic orbit or maybe there was some Dyson sphere shit going on but GRRM has said that it's magical.

I think Martin has pretty much confirmed that the seasons are magical in origin, though.
