It's hard to disagree with me when I haven't really stated an opinion. Are you saying you think that Mary IS the first sci-fi author?

Or are you disagreeing with me that some people would rather just go "A WOMAN WAS THE FIRST ____!!!" instead of actually educating themselves about the history of women writers?

Women writers have accomplished so many revolutionary things in literature that it's sad that instead of learning about that, or appreciating what Shelley did, people would rather just go "NEENER NEENER! THIS WOMAN WAS THE FIRST SCI-FI AUTHOR!".

I'm disagreeing with what I saw as the implication that the main reason people have a particular opinion re: Mary Shelly is because of a combination of ignorance and unreflective rah-rah feminism.

If that's not what you were trying to imply, then I apologize.

SA - like, I do think that Mary Shelley was the first sci-fi author, but even though I disagree with your opinion on that, it's not really what I'm objecting to.
