I could see people being very insecure about themselves that their real selves stay in the depths of their mind, and they just mimic the opinions and tastes of people around them.

I can see that... but personally I still wouldn't describe it as having no personality. Just a lot of insecurities. And especially if they're young, isn't that sort of how we develop personalities?
