They are pretty much canon, though. Not resolved but the romantic vibe is huge throughout the show and the makers of the series unofficially pair them up in romantic poses in all the fanart. They're not my ship on the show but I feel that they're closer to canon than my top pick (Munakata/Suoh).

And yet the least popular of the main three pairings is the one with pledges of loyalty and calling the other their wife... ;-; KuroShiro is gorgeous and needs so much more love.

I LOVE Shiro/Kuro. They're my antidrug. I was honestly kind of annoyed at Neko for getting her face all up in their reunion. Kuro should have cried. /bitter

I used to like KuroShiro but I feel like it's creepy now with the last episode twist. Sure I always knew mentally Shiro's much older than Kuroh but now with the different body it feels too much like Shiro is someone's creepy uncle trying to hit on a teenager.

Oh, I ship Shiro and Kuro as well (a lot) but honestly, they actually already are the closest to canon. I mean Kuro is Shiro's caring housewife at the end. Maybe them being so incredibly domestic is the reason they don't even get actively shipped.

Yeah, especially with the last episode in mind, they have a lot of an "almost canon" vibe going. But just once I would have loved to get a bit more of an outright statement/word of God on it. It rarely ever happens in non-BL series, though. So eh, I'll take what I can get.
