When was the last time you felt vindicated?

(Anonymous) 2015-12-30 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
For me, it was today, talking to an old neighbor from my tiny hometown (we've both moved, but her mom still lives there).

"Curtis turned out really weird and unpleasant. I think he had an addiction problem, but now he's clean and just. A huge jerk all the time."

"I KNEW IT! I knew it ever since he was playing in our yard, and some snot started running down his face, and I said, 'Hey, Curtis, my mom has tissues,' and he said, 'No, it's okay,' and kept running around with the snot on his face."

History has vindicated me re: Curtis, my creepy neighbor from when I was a kid. Tell me when you were last vindicated.

You were 'vindicated' about him being a huge jerk because he didn't use a tissue? That's a bit of a reach.

More like I felt vindicated because I never liked him and always thought he was odd, and this story is my clearest memory of him being unpleasant for no reason.

Creepy has turned into that word that everyone now misuses and applies to absolutely everything, no matter how inaccurate.

This is petty, but...

We had some friends come by for a visit. My dad had arranged it last week, hoping it would cheer my mom up (it didn't, she wouldn't see them), and he told me he'd set it up for 4 p.m. Then at noon today, he told me if I was going to take a shower, I'd better do it right then, because our friends were coming at 1 p.m. Insisted he'd never, ever said four; it was set for one, he told me that last week. I feel really stupid: how could I make a mistake like that?

1 p.m.: table is laid, food is set out, I'm ready to make hot chocolate for our friend's two little girls...nobody shows up until four.

I will say this for my father, he's the first to admit it if he's wrong.

Study recently suggested that there was evidence that people who post all those meaningless platitudes and "inspirational" bullshit might actually be less intelligent.

Ok, that's something new. I don't get it but at least it's not a self righteous smarm-filled grandstanding screed.

Maybe you should check Snopes before believing shit just because it fits with your wretched worldview. Thought you were supposed to be smarter than that.

Never said I was smart, sugar cookie, and even I make mistakes. You're just dumber than me. :)

You just proved you're too dumb to fact-check before you feel "vindicated," so maybe drop the patronizing attitude to anyone who calls you on your shit, moonpie.
