Er, as someone who has this kink, one of the anons above me described part of it. It's the "no, you can't just flop to the side and go to sleep/you're stuck together for a while/enforced cuddling" aspect. I'm a big post-coital cuddler.

That, for me, is coupled with the fact that, er.. at least on me, a knot can be in just the right place to put pressure on my g-spot, and that means even more intense orgasms.

I find the whole penis-with-a-knot thing hot because the way it's typically written, the knot swells, and feels better and better for both of the participants, as they fuck. If it just pops out like an airbag at the last minute, that's much less hot to me.

There's sort of a size kink element there, with the whole "bigger cock equals more pleasure" idea. Except I find it a lot hotter than the size kink trope, because the knot swells as the characters fuck. So it's like escalating size kink hotness. Plus, in omegaverse there's a strong biological imperative for the alpha to knot inside the omega, and the omega's body is supposedly built to accommodate that, so it makes sense for the knot to feel really good (as opposed to uncomfortable or painful).

Also, in the omegaverse fics I've read it's usually not uncomfortable for the characters to be stuck together, because the omega's heat doesn't end as soon as they are knotted, it keeps going. So both the characters remain heavily aroused for as long as they're knotted together, and it's sort of like a low-key extended orgasm for both of them, and then once they can separate they very quickly want to do it all over again.

I'm not saying it's not a weird trope. I just don't think it's all that difficult to see why some of us find it hot.

The main issue seems to be with people taking the whole "dog penis" thing quite literally. Which makes me think maybe they haven't read that much omegaverse, because the vast majority of the omegaverse fics I've read have treated the "inspired by dog sex" aspect of the omegaverse as...barely even relevant (exempting Werewolf/Omegaverse AUs). "Dog sex" may have been the kernel of inspiration that started the whole thing, but I highly doubt omegaverse caught on like brushfire because people have a thing for dog sex. I think it caught on because people have a thing for mating urges, and for sexual organs that swell when one is aroused. And the omegaverse allows you to take that kink to a bit of an extreme, where the swelling happens to uncontrollable excess, and feels exponentially more amazing than a standard issue erection, for both partners. *shrugs*

Yeah, I'm not huge into a/b/o outside of the rare fic that has intersex omegas, but this is a pretty good run down of all the things I find hot about it.

Sex driven by the urge to impregnate, often with really detailed descriptions of the semen and how it feels inside. Size kink, omegas are specifically designed to be knotted and have it feel amazing. The pair going into heat so they're compelled to have endless filthy sex. And then the knotting is basically enforced cuddling, which is fantastic.
