I carefully avoided spoilers and advance publicity so, until I actually saw the movie, my only exposure to John Boyega was via movie trailers. If you haven't seen the actor in anything else, and all you have to go on is a clip in which he speaks with an American accent, I can see where someone might reasonably assume he's African-American.

So sniping at the OP for this seems a bit unfair.
